With the recently announced new cabinet members by the camp of the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d Romualdez Marcos Jr., he named Ms. Lilia Guillermo as the new BIR Commissioner that will spearhead the agency in enforcing effective tax collections, penalties, fines, and digitalization.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Lilia Guillermo, New BIR Commissioner<\/b><\/p>\n

Ms. Lilia Guillermo was appointed as the new BIR commissioner by President Marcos\u2019 camp saying \u201cLillia Guillermo\u2019s strong background in IT and her almost four decades of service at the BIR complements President-elect Marcos\u2019s objective of boosting the country\u2019s revenue through efficient tax collection,\u201d Trixie Cruz-Angeles, Press Secretary-designate.<\/p>\n

Ms. Lilia Guillermo, CESO 1, is currently the Assistant Governor and Chief Information Officer of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas and leads the Technology and Digital Innovation Office under the Governor in which she managed and completed the BSP I.T. Modernization Roadmap of 2018-2023. She also led I.T innovations at the Department of Budget and Management as an Undersecretary where she was handed the responsibility in managing and developing systems for the modernization of Public Financial Management Program. The new BIR Commissioner, Ms. Lilia Guillermo obtained her Bachelor of Science degree major in Statistics in 1977 and M.S. Industrial Engineering degree in 1981 at the University of the Philippines. She was also named \u201cOne of the most powerful women in I.T. in the Philippines\u201d last 2003.<\/p>\n

What to Expect with Ms. Lilia Guillermo as the New BIR Commissioner<\/b><\/p>\n

Little did everyone know; Ms. Lilia Guillermo was also the former Deputy Commissioner of the bureau where she became Project Director of the \u201cTax Computerization Project\u201d which was assisted by the World Bank and considered as one of the biggest projects of the government.<\/p>\n
