New PERKESO Scheme
LINDUNG 24 JAM
Skim Kemalangan Bencana Bukan Pekerjaan — Malaysia’s first non-employment accident scheme under SOCSO, providing around-the-clock coverage for all registered employees effective June 2026.
What is LINDUNG 24 JAM?
SOCSO (PERKESO) has always protected employees from accidents that happen during work or while commuting to and from the workplace. But what happens if you break your leg hiking on a Sunday, or get into an accident while running personal errands after hours?
That’s the protection gap that LINDUNG 24 JAM is designed to close. Officially known as the Skim Kemalangan Bencana Bukan Pekerjaan, this new scheme extends SOCSO protection to cover accidents that happen outside of work — 24 hours a day, for the entire duration of your employment in Malaysia.
Under LINDUNG 24 JAM, a “non-employment injury” is a personal injury caused by an accident that does not arise out of or in the course of employment. This covers accidents during leisure, at home, during personal travel, and more — as long as it is not excluded under Section 96B of the Act.
What Benefits Does LINDUNG 24 JAM Provide?
Under the LINDUNG 24 JAM scheme, eligible employees are entitled to the following:
Round-the-Clock Coverage
Protected at all times — not just during working hours or commuting.
Non-Work Accident Protection
Accidents during personal activities, at home, or leisure are now covered.
Medical Costs Covered
Cost of medical treatment for qualifying injuries is financed by PERKESO.
Who Is Covered Under LINDUNG 24 JAM?
The LINDUNG 24 JAM scheme applies to all employees currently covered under SOCSO’s Employment Injury Scheme. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Private sector employees
All salaried workers already registered with PERKESO under the Employment Injury Scheme.
Employers
Required to deduct and remit the new LINDUNG 24 JAM contribution on employees' behalf.
Foreign workers
Covered, provided they hold valid passes and comply with immigration laws.
Contribution Rates for LINDUNG 24 JAM
Unlike other SOCSO schemes, LINDUNG 24 JAM contributions are borne entirely by the employee. However, employers are responsible for deducting and remitting these contributions on employees’ behalf for as long as employment continues. Rates are phased in gradually:
PHASE 1
First 2 years
June 2026 – 2028
0.75%
PHASE 2
Next 3 years
2028 – 2031
1.00%
PHASE 3
From year 6 onwards
2031 and beyond
1.25%
What Is NOT Covered Under LINDUNG 24 JAM?
While LINDUNG 24 JAM broadens SOCSO’s reach significantly, certain situations are excluded:
- Accidents occurring outside Malaysia's territory
- Foreign workers who misuse or violate conditions of their immigration passes or permits under the Immigration Act 1959/63 [Act 155]
- Self-employment injuries under Act 789
- Domestic worker injuries under Act 838
- Conditions arising from illness, including diabetes, fever, high blood pressure, and similar medical conditions

Frequently Asked Questions
What is LINDUNG 24 JAM?
LINDUNG 24 JAM (Skim Kemalangan Bencana Bukan Pekerjaan) is a new SOCSO scheme introduced by PERKESO that provides round-the-clock accident protection to all registered employees — even for accidents that happen outside of working hours and are unrelated to their job.
It fills the gap left by the existing Employment Injury Scheme, which only covers work-related accidents and commuting incidents.
Who is eligible for LINDUNG 24 JAM?
All employees currently registered under SOCSO’s Employment Injury Scheme are automatically eligible — including:
- Private sector salaried employees
- Foreign workers holding valid passes or permits
Domestic workers (Act 838) and self-employed individuals (Act 789) are excluded from this scheme.
Do I need to register separately for LINDUNG 24 JAM?
No. If you are already registered under SOCSO’s Employment Injury Scheme, you will be automatically covered under LINDUNG 24 JAM from June 2026. No separate registration is required from employees.
Employers, however, must ensure their payroll systems are updated to deduct and remit the new contribution rate correctly.
What types of accidents are covered under LINDUNG 24 JAM?
LINDUNG 24 JAM covers personal injuries caused by accidents that are NOT related to your employment. Examples include:
- Sports and recreational injuries (e.g. football, hiking, cycling)
- Accidents at home (e.g. falling down stairs, burns)
- Road accidents during personal travel (non-work related)
- Injuries during leisure or social activities
Coverage applies 24 hours a day, throughout your entire period of employment.
Am I covered if I travel overseas for personal reasons?
No. LINDUNG 24 only covers accidents that occur within Malaysian territory. Accidents that happen overseas — whether for personal travel or leisure — are not covered under this scheme.
You may want to consider a separate travel insurance policy for overseas protection.
